Our machetes are exciting additions to the SOG family. Its not should I have a machete but which size will work for me. Machetes are one of the more useful edged tools in the world. They have cleared brush, and blazed trails, have chopped wood, made shelters, harvested crops, prepared meals, hunted and protected. Careful attention has been given to the SOGfari to make sure that the weight was right and the handles were comfortable for extended use. Whip them through the air and hear them sing. We've added a real working saw on the back of the blades with teeth that cut deep. Extended out of the back of the handle is a spiked tang for pounding and scraping. There are even holes in the handle to mount lanyards. SOGfari... the go to tool for survival, exploration and adventure!

Our goal in producing this new folder is to combine all of our recent technological advances in one heavy-duty tactical folder. We call it the Fire Spark™, and it is primarily intended for law enforcement and military professionals, although it also makes a fine general-purpose sport and work folder for those who want to carry a large knife.

The innovative construction starts with our rigid InterFrame build with stainless steel liners, one locking. We add 6061 aluminum scales, which are CNC machined to receive black textured G10 inlays. The handle is a full 4.75" long to be comfortable for those with large hands, or when wearing gloves, and features four finger choils to give optimum grip. The cross section is flat enough for in-pocket carry. Finally, there is a strong stainless steel back spacer that extends to the butt, which culminates in a "skull cracker" pointed tip. The back spacer is relieved to allow a double lanyard loop to be cut in the stainless steel liners.

The blade on the Fire Spark is a modified tactical spear point design with a Razor-Sharp edge, high hollow grind and swedged top edge for penetration. Blade steel is premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel.

The sport model 1050 has a high satin blade finish, silver anodized frames, and polished three-position stainless steel clip.

We have combined our OutBurst® assisted opening with our patent-pending1 Fire Safe™ mechanism. When closed, the blade is safely locked by the Fire Safe pin. It cannot be opened until the thumb stud is firmly pressed and nudged outward. Then the blade springs open instantly for use. The system assures fast opening action even in cold weather and when wearing gloves.

Finally, to maintain lockup in high-stress situations, we've incorporated the patented2 LAWKS® safety, which effectively converts the folder into a virtual fixed blade when the LAWKS lever is pressed forward.

The Fire Spark is the most fully featured tactical folder we have ever offered, and it is also a great value.

Glenn Klecker's son, Nathan, came up with this idea for a pre-cut, easily assembled softwood knife kit. Naturally, we named it Nathan's Knife Kit in his honor. Not only is it an easy first woodworking project, but it is an excellent way to acquaint children, seven years of age and older, with the fundamentals of knife safety and responsibility. The kit is slightly oversized for easy assembly by young hands, and comes with complete instructions and knife safety education tips. Depending on the skill of the child, the knife can be assembled from the bag by press fit, or it can be sanded, glued, sealed, stained, painted and decorated as desired. We expect to receive many digital photographs, and we'll post them on our Facebook page. Many of us at CRKT were part of the great tradition of responsible knife ownership and education. It never occurred to us that our knives could be weapons, so we never used our knives to threaten or harm anyone, and we certainly would have been severely disciplined by our parents and had our knives taken away if we did. We learned that it was an honor to carry a knife, and that we were duty bound to use it responsibly. Sadly, in today's culture, knives have been demonized. Despite Americans' clear Constitutional right to bear arms, knives continue to be regulated and treated as evil by some. Of course, in the hands of the wrong people, knives can be used in destructive and evil ways. So can a baseball bat. But that is not inherent in what has been called man's earliest and most useful tool. We encourage all parents to continue this tradition of responsible knife ownership, and Nathan's Kit is an excellent first step. We especially recommend the American Knife & Tool Institute's free downloads on knife education and selection. For more information, we recommend that you visit www.AKTI.org and www.kniferights.org and join each of these excellent organizations.

Even heroes need someone looking out for them. This one is for them.

The idea for the CST™ (Combat Stripping Tool) was born during a deployment as a combat medic assigned to a Forward Surgical Team in Northern Afghanistan. During intense life-and-death situations, sometimes trauma shears simply wouldn’t get the job done, so Kelly L. Rodriguez designed this utility blade to pick up the slack. When everything is on the line, the CST™ is there to take control.

The Freescape Camp Saw features an innovative design that allows the saw to fold up flat while remaining completely assembled and without threat of lost parts. It utilizes 4 pivot points to effectively cut larger diameter wood while using the full length of the blade. When folded up, the blade is protected and can be stowed safely in a gear kit or camp bin.

BRIGHT ACCENTS FOR QUICK VISUAL ID

Its bright green accents along the black rubber surface make it easy to spot in the shuffle of camp gear. The grippy rubber Freescape textured handle stays firmly in the hand no matter the conditions. Replace the saw’s standard 12” blade easily if required.

"After decades in the jungles of Asia, Africa, North America and other remote places, I have always wanted something between a machete and a rugged survival knife,” says DPx Gear founder Robert Young Pelton. “The CHOP is a twelve inch piece of razor sharp Sleipner steel that makes short work of building camp, cooking, and even self defense.” The key to the CHOP’s unique patented design is not just the use of the same exotic steel used in the commercial meat processing industry but also the ergonomics. The shape of the knife is unique. A deeply ergonomic handle with rounded full tang flows into a front-heavy axe-like tip. There are also twelve inches of perfectly straight, sword grind Sleipner steel to perform precision work; a flat, thick spine for pounding; a relief area to balance the knife; and a two inch tip with a thicker grind for splitting wood and a thick point for ground work. There are also two clever depressions at the front and back of the spine for batoning through timber. The overall look is reminiscent of the Asian parang; designs that Pelton used for years on expeditions through the island of Borneo. The crude but flexible car spring blades had to be backed up with a heavy bush knife and small axe for splitting wood that doubled the weight of one’s gear. The DPx Gear CHOP 12 is the perfect middle ground between a hatchet, machete and heavy bush knife. Paired with a light, tough, skinning knife like the DPx HEST Original it becomes the perfect outdoor combination. “This breakthrough blade has been shaped, trimmed and tweaked for the heavy work demanded by extreme environments,” notes Pelton who spends long periods of time using and testing his prototypes in hard places like Somalia, Afghanistan, Burma, South Sudan, and other areas where he works as a war journalist, explorer and author. “The CHOP is a spare-no-expense survival blade that can be used to cut down a twelve inch tree or even for fine tasks like shaving.” "After decades in the jungles of Asia, Africa, North America and other remote places, I have always wanted something between a machete and a rugged survival knife,” says DPx Gear founder Robert Young Pelton. “The CHOP is a twelve inch piece of razor sharp Sleipner steel that makes short work of building camp, cooking, and even self defense.” The key to the CHOP’s unique patented design is not just the use of the same exotic steel used in the commercial meat processing industry but also the ergonomics.
